CRADLE MOUNTAIN...... snow

it really does snow in
TASMANIA.

melissa and i had an unexpected opportunity to escape to
CRADLE MOUNTAIN
for a few days.
(thanks rob, for the suggestion)

it was great, 2 nights of just us.
talking, laughing,
eating, sleeping,
reading, walking,
driving.

just what we needed before i set off,
in early september for india.

GOWRIE PARK,
 on route to cradle mountain.
MT. ROLAND in the mist.

moss is always a good indication, that this is a cold area.

the snow was compacted, and had a lovely
crunch
sound.

the CRADLE MT
signs.
we  have arrived !

view from interior of the car,
looking at fluffy snow clouds.

the snow was deep in parts.

this sign made me smile.
the little lake was completely frozen.

part of the lake,
near the LODGE  accommodation.

the trees were beautiful, against the
starkness and stillness of winter.

a pop of colour.

melissa and i decided that this running water, would be very cold.

this rushing water, had some power behind it.

view from our cabin,
on our departure day.

view from the cabin, looking towards the main LODGE.
melissa and robin's car is reversed in.
you can see the green roof of the lodge .
we needed to walk there for smorgasbord breakfast,
evening meals.
sit around the huge log fires.

part of the interior of our room.
it was toasty and warm with the GAS HEATER.
this room has queen size bed, lounge, 2 easy chairs, bench with mini bar.

the room to the right in photo,
has 2 single beds.

room to the left
is the bathroom.

we had a GREAT time away.
