JOHARI BAZAR...

INDIA is in the middle of

DIWALI FESTIVAL.
it is the festival of LIGHTS.

nowhere does it as well as jaipur, ( so i am told)

this is the reason we have endured weeks of power cuts.
all for 3, overwhelming, sight of LIGHTS.

TONIGHT (22nd), is the first official night.
as i sit here, and type, i can hear, crackers, sky rockets and fireworks going off.
and
the  other things, that are going off is the

DOGS.

oh! the howling, and barking.
i think tonight, i will find my ear plugs.

it really is a sight.
i remember, last DIWALI, going up the roof top, and simply in aure of the sights.
it went on for hours.

also, people light up their homes. with thousands of little fairy lights.

there is a DOWNSIDE to all of this, and that is the POLLUTION,
that is evident in the morning,
up till now, there has been clear blue skies during the day.

tomorrow, guaranteed, that sky will be like fog.
people are warned, if they suffer breathing problems to stay inside.

there is a move, across india, to reduce the amount of fireworks, for the pollution problems.

yesterday, i decided to take my camera, and walk in one of the bazar's.

i chose JAHARI BAZAR,

because last year, i walked TROPOLI BAZAR.

i left home about 10.00 am.
got an auto, to the bazar.
simply walked.
tried so, hard to avoid conversations with the shop keepers.

i do find the same old questions, very tiring.

'WHERE YOU FROM MADAM'
'CAN I SHOW YOU ONE THING'
' I HAVE SHAWLS & PASHMINERS'
'DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH, MADAM'

a lot of the time, i pretend, i don't speak english.
it has taken time, to ignore the shop keepers, and keep walking.
it does SEEM RUDE.
i am getting better.

the day was soo hot.
sweat was trickling down the back.

i stoped for lunch in L.M.B.
a/c restaurant.
and also a LASSI.

i was out on that CROWDED, PACKED, bazar till 4.00 pm.

STAGGERED home,
DUMPED the camera,
then enjoyed
