3rd JAIPUR ART SUMMIT...

i feel very fortunate
that i have been to
ALL
3
of the
ART SUMMIT'S

JAWAHAR KALA KENDRA
( j.k.k. for short)

the art summit started yesterday, amid controversy!

'a cow model crafted of foam and suspended in the air by a balloon got the organisers of the jaipur art summit  more attention than they could chew.
the ininaugural day saw protestors and police arriving on the same page to pull down the installation at j.k.k. suspecting it to be a take on the controversies surrounding the beef consumption and slaughter that has made award wapasi and intolerance a household debate in india'
quote from todays
DNA newspaper.

so... this is what is left of the hanging cow.
just the pretty blue balloon.

another outdoor installation.
using village water carriers.

this installation was meters of cloth, that had holes slashed in them, rust paint and red paint.
there was no description, so we can only guess the story.

this was interesting.
it was a series of crossed steel, wrapped in cord.

i liked this
VILLAGE.
simple.
consistant shapes.

this is part of a large body of work, by this artist.
looking here you  can see
OLD RADIOS.

metal cut work.

using NATURAL DYES from jaipur area

this is the man that is using the above
NATURAL DYES.
here he is drawing the design onto calico.

a finished art piece.

another piece.

using an air brush.

a SCULPUTOR
with his model.

this was wonderful to stand and watch this talented man, sculpt and mould with his thumbs.

at work.

another outdoor artist, checking his emails.

i found this artist's method interesting.
he applied paint VERY randomly and loosely (gold / brown ) to the background.
then when dry he simply drew faces.

colours of the INDIAN FLAG.

i liked the simplicity of this work.

close up of above.

it was a great idea, for the artists to be sitting under the shade of a big tree,
and visitors could walk around and just enjoy the process.

INDOOR EXHIBITION.

these were clever. made of metal and steel.
3 d .

close up of the shoe and butterflies.

another 3d metal work.

little girls face, would be typical and believable.

 close up of above.
see all the faces in pen.

this artist from IRAN.

painted over old papers, using old carpet pieces.

close up of the carpet used for the saddle.

this was a lovely piece.

the use of background words is interesting.

close up of above.

i imagine this is an up turned metal bowl, fitted into a wooden frame.

front of above.

my new BLOG photo.
i thought this was
SO TYPICAL OF INDIA.

varanasi.

i spent a very pleasant few hours
at the art summit.
