walking into the grounds of
HOTEL CLARKS AMER.

i liked the wind sails.

close up of wind sails.

this is an interesting way to display fabric yardage.

this is part of a very small display of OLD RAJASTHAN CLOTHES.

all the hand embroidery work, was so neat.
no colour had bleed.

close up of above.
with mirror work.

this seemed to be a heavy wrap.

a dress with a lot of small bead work.

close up of above.

work by JAIPUR MODERN.
i particularly like the 2 heavy canvas, printed bags.
overnight or week end bags.
handles and trim in leather.

close up of the fine gold embroidery of the above photo.

a discarded garland.

a small installation
THREAD OF LIFE.

threads were wound around and about the stick models, to indicate that all is connected.

on the posts were these small hand carved wooden heads.
men wearing turbans.
about 8 - 10 " high.

another regal chap, with a beard.

interesting detail.

installation of paper roses.
they were really beautiful hanging from tree branches.

close up of a rose.
made from thick, strong handmade paper.

this installation was based on playing cards from
ORISSA.
have a read.

i thought this skirt was very clever.
it was made in such a way, that the 12 different paintings, were on an individual gore of the skirt.

close up of one of the skirt gores.

this time the painting is on the blouse.

another painting on a blouse.

the only article of clothing for men.

close up of the wrap.
they had been painted, cut into a circle, then raw edge machine stitched onto the background length of fabric.

work from the INSTITUTE OF DESIGN.

another very comfortable stool.

a few pieces of black iron pottery.

INDIGO
is everywhere this season.

at the poolside of
HOTEL CLARKS AMER
it was set up for a pre wedding party.
what was happening today, was the ladies were looking beautiful and getting
HENDI applied.
then lunch would be served.
official photos being taken.

by default, i will be in a wedding album.

i felt i  was sitting inside a packet of
pink & white marshmallows.
you can see the pool in the centre of the photo.

a string of orange marigolds.
sheer lime green fabric.

i suppose you are wondering if i bought anything.
well i did purchase 2 wraps.

MERINO wool from australia, sent to BIKANER
then woven and dyed.

SITARAM GARG, (national awarded, state awarded)
was trying to unpack his 3 medium tin trunks of shawls, wraps and mufflers.

some of the OVER EXCITED women were helping him unpack.
poor man.

he was also trying to get some of the work up on racks for a display.
no way he could manage it.
so i,
put my bag down, tucked it in behind his trunks and started to take his work and drape over the racks.
when he saw what i was doing,
HIS BIG SMILE
said it all.

in the meantime, i am thinking ,
i like that one,
oh i like that one,
and that one.

thinking that he will have plenty of stock.

OH NO !!!!

i found a woman to help with the language, and it was arranged that he will get what i want sent on a bus from BIKANER,
that night and he will deliver it to me today.

HAVE I GOT IT?

YES
