TRIPOLIA BAZAAR. NIGHT. JAIPUR

2.10.2013

you may wonder why i was EXHAUSTED after, my day into TRIPOLIA BAZAAR during the day?
SOO much walking.
it was hot.
because i had the camera, and taking photos, it was assumed i was a tourist, and with that i was stopped constantly to be asked,

'JUST ONE MINUTE MADAM'
or
'NO CHARGE TO LOOK, MADAM'
or
'WHAT COUNTRY YOU FROM, MADAM'
or
'YOU LOOK AT MY SHOP, MADAM'

it was lovely to get a auto back home, climb the 47 steps, & have a bucket bath, wash clothes, lay down, put today's photos onto the computer.
eat & out.

what a difference, the afternoon light makes.
not so bright.
the buildings and people look softer.

and then when the lights came on, WOW ! this has been worth the days of power cuts.

this is the exterior of the temple, where i met THE HEAD PRIEST.

it was BEAUTIFUL, but also NOISY.
the constant blowing of car horns.

i found it hard to choose?
which light was the most o.t.t. (over the top) i had ever seen.
some looked like birthday cakes, others something from the deep blue ocean, others from outer space.

it would need a very special room, for these lights to shine their best.

looking straight up, into the centre of this light.

a street CHAT seller.

a busy intersection.
there is traffic lights here, and the motorists do obey them.
that makes it easy to get from one side to the other.
but.... you still need to look at all sides.

the BASIC straight stitch, sewing machine.
some electric, others hand turned.

as well as LIGHTS, LIGHTS, LIGHTS, it is a time of FIREWORKS.
FIREWORKS going off EVERY NIGHT during DIWALI.
oh! it is a sight!
at night, i would go onto the roof top @ home and just watch, the night sky burst into colour.
then the next day, the sky would be full of pollution from the fireworks.
not good if you have breathing problems.

this man, is making a water jug, with a spout, from copper.
i had taken a photo of the water seller during the day.

a random street scene.

these are the BAHI NOTEBOOKS that jaipur is famous for.

great display, to sell blow up toys.

close up

metal trays.

beautiful faces.

ISHWAR LAT.
opposite the temple.

selling tea.

this photo is a small part of the big picture.
it is the width of 4 car lanes.
it is constructed from sheet metal, and small holes, in the designs have been drilled.
into which, tiny lights have been inserted from the back.
so from the front you only see the tips of the fairy lights.
and then they BLINKED.
that was SPECTACULAR.

LAKSHMI.
goddess of wealth.

side walk sellers, this one selling plastic shoes and thongs.

what a FAB day i had today.
truly, INDIA comes alive @ night.
live is LIVED on the streets.
everyone is out, parents with young children.
none of the attitude, they need to go to school tomorrow, get them in bed early!.
oh nooo
the children are out ...
if they get tired... they fall asleep.
LIFE IS SIMPLE
